2025

There was a lot on my list I didn't get to this year, but I did try and prioritise new games, but it's also great to get games that have been on the backlog for years. I did play some games I didn't like, but I think it's time to ditch the worst games categories, after all I only intend to play stuff I'm interested in and I don't want to play anything bad. So let's dive in!

Best DLC: Dave the Diver: Ichiban's Holiday.

Let me just say Dave the Diver was incredible, there's been so much content added like Dredge and Godzilla, it's all good. I've yet to play the later Yakuza games that feature Ichiban, so this is technically my first time with him and I loved it. I just love how this game has so many different types of games in it and this DLC even adds some beat em ups. It's just more fun in this great adventure.

Best Co-op/Multiplayer:  Split Fiction.

Hazelight is pretty much the only thing saving co-op story gaming these days. Not only do they make fun games but the stories are great too. Sure I've played loads of fun games like Human Fall Flat, Vampire Survivors, PowerWash, but these aren't co-op campaigns. A Way Out, It Takes Two and now Split Fiction, all incredibly well made games, this fits right in as a co-op experience that's brilliant to play.

Most Surprising Game: Dave the Diver.

I covered this a bit already, but this game was fun and addictive. At first it was a little hard getting used to everything, but filling in the fish encyclopedia just like in Dredge was a blast. Every quirky character you met was great, Bancho and Dave I just loved. All the updates and DLC just gave more and more to enjoy. There's so many different types of genres in this game it's like an all in one, never have I been so invested in a restaurant manager. Even after I finished the story, I just wanted to keep going unlocking everything and then continue opening the restaurant each night. I'm so happy there's still more to come and look forward to exploring the jungle expansion in 2026!

Most Disappointing Game: The Outer Worlds 2.

This one hurts a bit, there's a few games that could be here, but this is the one I expected to love and had to be the one. I loved the first one, Elder Scrolls and Fallout are my exact type of game, and the first game lived up to those experiences, but this one really didn't.

The companions were not the great, only a couple I sorta liked, but there's always someone I love. Even the story was just so uninteresting, I don't even really remember what it about that much. The planets weren't that fun to explore and the side missions weren't even engaging. One thing though is that there were some great weapons, but I really hope there's no DLC, it was pretty bland and I don't particularly want to go back to it.

Most Anticipated Game: GTA VI (again)

So I said this last year and it didn't pan out, so here's a few other;

Resident Evil Requiem, Reanimal, Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight, Crimson Desert, 007 First Light.

Best Game of the Year: Silent Hill 2

The remake of SH2 was just incredible, I never played the original but this I couldn't get off it. The moment I arrived in Silent Hill I was hooked. James Sunderland was just so great to play as in this dark world, the psychological horror had me watching videos and reading up on it that I was just so invested in this world I wanted more.

The story was incredible too, nothing is fully explained and to this day there's a lot unanswered and honestly I love that. I was so hyped for SH: F but it just wasn't anything like it. Now I'm all ahout the remake of the first game. I'm concerned that the franchise will never hit the heights that the early games did, but you know what, remake all the old ones please.

Happy 2026.
